Blanco Getaway: All the Paint Colors

If you follow along on Instagram, you already know the news: the Blanco house is officially for sale! This one holds such a special place for us. Adam and I have loved partnering together on our spec homes, building our design + build business one project at a time and creating timeless houses on land where people can truly live their dream life. Taking Lettie along for the journey has made it all the more meaningful. This is only the beginning of a very exciting business venture.

Because this one was a true labor of love (and because so many of you have asked!), we wanted to pull back the curtain and walk you through every single paint color we used. I always have my go to paint colors, but we explore new options for every project. You never know how the natural and artificial light in a space will affect a color. I love putting up samples on site to make the final decision.

Exterior

We wanted the outside of the Blanco house to feel soothing and timeless, to feel like it has always been a part of the landscape.  We selected a white with warm tones, a white that feels putty in some lighting.

• Siding: Sherwin Williams Shoji White. I wanted it to feel warm, more putty and less white. A variation of the white farmhouse.
• Front Door: Farrow & Ball Grate. A deep, moody charcoal that gives the entry a little weight and drama against the lighter siding. It's one of those colors that photographs differently depending on the light, which I love.
  

‍Whole House Base: Ceilings + Walls

We color drenched the main interior spaces, varying the sheen for a subtle difference. It keeps things calm, cozy and warm. Since this house doesn’t have a specific client, it allows the spaces to be neutral but still inviting.

• Ceiling Paint: Sherwin Williams Alabaster in Flat
• Wall Paint: Sherwin Williams Alabaster in Eggshell

Kitchen

We wanted the kitchen to feel timeless and unique but still allow a potential buyer to be able to imagine themselves cooking there. Instead of adding interest with bold pops of color we brought in interest with texture, materials and vintage (and vintage inspired) elements.

• Cabinets: Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige in Satin; it’s such a warm, livable neutral, the perfect backdrop for the vintage-inspired hardware.
• Backsplash: a Delft-inspired tile behind the range and vent hood, hand-painted by me, which brings in just enough pattern without overwhelming the space. A little nod to an English countryside kitchen.
• Counters: honed marble backsplash, my favorite for a classic timeless look.

Primary Bath

We wanted to add an unexpected texture in here so we used tadelakt in the shower with a marble tile wainscot

• Ceiling Paint: SW Alabaster, Flat
• Wall Paint: SW Alabaster, Eggshell
• Vanity Paint: SW Accessible Beige, Satin, another one of my favorite go to warm neutrals
• Paneling Paint: SW Aesthetic White, Satin I love this white, it complements so many colors
• Shower Walls: Tadelakt up to the ceiling, paired with Carrara Venato tile
• Floors: French Linen limestone, with a Carrara Venato penny round mosaic on the shower floor
• Hardware: polished nickel throughout

Guest Bath

We continued the alabaster paint into this space, letting the fixtures be the stars of the space.

• Ceiling Paint: SW Alabaster, Flat
• Wall Paint: SW Alabaster, Eggshell
• Paneling Paint: Farrow & Ball Old White, Satin

Loft Bath

We almost didn’t build out this bathroom and I’m so glad we did. I wanted to keep this space bright and white and budget focused.

• Ceiling Paint: SW Alabaster, Flat
• Wall Paint: SW Alabaster, Eggshell
• Paneling Paint: Farrow & Ball Old White, Satin
• Floor: white gloss penny tile
• Hardware: polished chrome, leaning into some vintage pieces
